Following this 4 - part process you will create a single hydrangea bloom on a half or full sheet of 140lb cold press arches watercolour paper:

  1. Trace the design from the pattern sheet provided
  2. Using a ‘spirit card’ (use one of mine or bring your own deck) apply colour using the wet on wet technique to create the underpainting
  3. Deepen the negative space colour
  4. Define the petal edges

Bring a board to support your work, a natural sponge, your regular painting gear, spirit cards if you have them and your lunch.

  • 10 Tubes of watercolour (student grade, 8ml, Winsor & Newton, Cotman)

  • Covered palette
  • 1 brush - (a #10 round)
  • Corrugated plastic board (20" x 24")

  • Selectum white eraser
  • Permanent marker (Sharpie, extra fine)
  • HB pencil
