The idea behind this session is to have you work repeatedly with the same image and colour palette but switch the process of the paint application over the 4 weeks, enabling you to discover your personal painting style and strength.
- Class 1. Using a photo source, divide the composition into shapes to create your master design. Prepare 3 canvases with your chosen underpainting colour then trace that master design on to each of the canvases. Next we will do colour mixing studies to establish the colour scheme you plan to use over the remaining 3 weeks of the course. You will not use colours straight from the tube.
- Class 2. Applying paint to your canvas using flat patterns of shapes and colour.
- Class 3. Using a palette knife to create a highly textured canvas.
- Class 4. A personal interpretation of an impressionistic brushstroke.
