If you have been considering starting to paint in acrylics, this is the introductory course you have been looking for. We start with colour theory and mixing colour on day one, then paint 2 simple landscapes on the following 2 Monday afternoons. Our first painting emphasizes the sky while the second concentrates on mixing greens and applying paint to create texture in the landscape.

Once you have this opportunity to familiarize yourself with acrylic paint and the painting process, you will have the confidence to sign up for longer more detailed courses. Why not give it a try?

 

Materials list:

  • A sketchbook (approx. 9x12”) and a pencil
  • A plastic bag for garbage, a roll of paper towels, and an apron
  • 2 canvases, no larger than 16x20”, regular not gallery style. Please remove the plastic before class and sign your name on the back of the canvas in pencil
  • 2 brushes: one flat -size 10 or 12, one round -  size 4 , long handled, soft bristle (not hog  hair)
  • A plastic palette knife
  • 4 tubes of paint - i suggest the brand ‘Amsterdam’: titanium white, cadmium yellow, alizarin crimson and ultramarine blue
  • A pad of palette paper
  • A small plastic container with a lid
