An Introduction to Acrylic Landscape Painting - Part 1

We start by creating a colour wheel and mixing greys, giving us a chance to see what our primary colours will do – generally getting to know your paint.

The next 2 afternoons give us a chance to create 2 simplified landscapes – one with the emphases on the sky and the next focuses on mixing greens for the land. Day 4 we try our hand at a waterscape.
Materials List
- 3 canvases – regular or gallery style , sizes 18×18, 16×16, 16×20, 12×16” no bigger
- tubes of heavy body acrylic- the primary colours plus white
- a pad of palette paper
- long handled ,soft bristle brushes – elongated flats
- water containers- low plastic approx 6” diameter – no glass
- a colour wheel, apron, sketchbook and pencil , printed landscape photo references not on your ipad or phone, paper towels, small plastic bag for your garbage
- remove all plastic from your canvas before class and write your name in pencil on the back
